Deliver is a biological insecticide specific for use against the lepidopterous larvae listed on the label. Deliver must be eaten by the larvae to be effective. Since Deliver is most effective against small, newly hatched larvae, an early scouting program to determine early infestations is recommended.
Active Ingredient: Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki
Rates: 0.06-2.0 lb. per acre (see label)
Spray Interval: 7-14 days (see label)
Re-entry Interval: 4 hours
Days to Harvest: 0
Notes:
Deliver is a biological insecticide specific for use against the lepidopterous larvae listed on the label. Deliver must be eaten by the larvae to be effective. Since Deliver is most effective against small, newly hatched larvae, an early scouting program to determine early infestations is recommended. After consuming a lethal dose of Deliver, larvae stop eating within an hour, but may remain on the foliage until they die, usually within several days. Affected larvae move more slowly and tend to become shriveled and discolored before dying.
This product is approved for organic production by the National Organic Program (NOP), a marketing program housed within the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service, the agency that sets marketing standards. The NOP mission is to develop and implement national standards that govern the marketing of agricultural products as organically produced, to facilitate commerce in fresh and processed food that is organically produced, and to assure consumers that such products meet consistent standards.
This product is OMRI Listed, therefore it is determined by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) to be suitable for use in certified organic production.
Washington state organic growers have several sources for determining what materials are allowed in organic production: the National List (NOP), the OMRI Products List and the WSDA Brand Name Materials Lists (BNML).
The WSDA Brand Name Materials List is a list of brand name products that have been evaluated by the Washington State Department of Agriculture to determine that they comply with organic standards. Products listed on the BNML are for use in organic production.
Deliver is the most potent biological worm control product available for the orchard and vine market. Derived from a powerful strain of Bacillus thuringiensis, Deliver is particularly effective against Lepidopteran worm pests, such as peach twig borer, navel orangeworm, Oriental fruit moth and omnivorous leafroller.
Like most other Bts used to control worm pests, Deliver is based on Bt subspecies kurstaki. However, its higher concentration of Cry1Ac protein results in higher potency and better control of Lepidoptera pests in orchard and vine crops. With 1.5 to 5 times the potency of other Bts, Deliver offers more control power on a pound-for-pound basis. One container of Deliver will cover more area than conventional Bts. This translates to lower application and storage / handling costs.
As with every biological insecticide, coverage is key for effective pest control. The superior wettable granular formulation of Deliver provides uniform dispersion of Bt in spray droplets and facilitates better spreading and sticking. The result is maximum coverage and pest ingestion.
Cry1Ac is the most broadly active of the dozens of natural Bt insecticidal crystal proteins (ICPs) that have been identified. Deliver contains more of this ICP than other Bt products, which means higher potency and cost-effective control of a broad spectrum of worm pests in orchard and vine crops. Both product labels and bioassays by an independent testing laboratory show that Deliver provides more BIUs per pound than any other Bt product.
Deliver complements the convenience of dormant sprays and goes one better. The specificity and tankmix compatibility of Deliver allows PCAs to mix it with February through April fungicide applications to control worms without disrupting predators or other beneficial species. The use of broad spectrum organophosphate insecticides in dormant sprays can kill beneficials, causing mite flare-ups later in the season. Using Deliver to control worms helps avoid these secondary pest outbreaks.
Recommended rates for application vary from 0.5 to 2.0 lbs. / acre. Use lower rates when infestations are light and worms are uniformly small. Multiple worm stages or continuous egg hatches require medium rates. For heavy infestations, larger worms (third-instar) and harder-to-control worms, higher application rates are recommended, especially late in the season. Proper timing and good coverage are crucial with all biological insecticides and applications should be closely monitored.
Application should be timed to target overwintering second-instar larvae as they come out of hibernation during tree bloom. Deliver can also be tank-mixed with fungicide sprays at this time. In the case of peach twig borer, apply two bracketed sprays at 7- to 14-day intervals during critical popcorn and petal fall periods. For all pests, apply early while larvae are small.
Consult the Deliver label for complete application information.
