For control of annual and perennial weeds, soil-borne fungi, bacteria and nematodes.
Active Ingredient: Dazomet 99%
Rates: 222-530 per acre (see label)
Spray interval: Not applicable
Re-entry Interval: 24 hours
Days to Harvest: Not applicable
Notes:
Avoid using Basamid when the soil temperature is extremely high (over 90°F/32°C, 2” deep). Pest control will be impaired under such conditions.
This product is toxic to all growing plants. Do not apply within 3-4 feet of plants or closer than the drip line of trees and shrubs. If slopes are to be treated with product, take precautions to prevent the chemical from washing downward to growing plants.
Vapors from soil treated with this product in greenhouses and cold frames may injure growing plants. Data are not complete on use in propagating beds composed of materials other than soil or soil and peat mixtures.
Clean equipment thoroughly with detergent and water after using this or other pesticides and before using for other purposes.
Fumigation may slow the rate of nitrification (the conversion of nitrates from ammonia to by bacterial action). Therefore certain ammonia-sensitive plants may exhibit growth inhibition when planted in fumigated soils containing high amounts of ammonia nitrogen. To lessen this hazard, at least half, and preferably all of the nitrogen fertilizer added immediately before or soon after fumigation should be in the form of nitrate nitrogen. This hazard may also be reduced by delaying planting until several months after fumigation, such as a fall fumigation before a spring-plant crop. If a nitrate form of nitrogen, such as sodium or calcium nitrate is not readily available, ammonium nitrate used sparingly will supply the nitrogen needed. Phosphorus, potassium and other plant nutrients should be used according to the soil needs.
Basamid is the only granular soil fumigant available on the market.

| Control: | Toxicant is released in moist soil, thereby controlling pests. | ||||||||||||
| Keys to Effective Results: | Prepare the soil to seedbed condition (fine tilth). Roll the soil surface to remove ridges, etc. Incorporate to a minimum of 6 inches. Keep soil moist for a minimum of seven days after application. Conduct germination test before planting / seeding crop. |

| Mode of Action: | When Basamid comes into contact with moist soil, the active ingredient, dazomet, is transformed into MITC gas that has soil-sterilizing properties. | ||||||||||||
| Re-entry Interval: | 24 hours | ||||||||||||
| Key Benefits: | No tarp required. Broad spectrum of activity against soil-borne pests. Applicator / Worker Exposure (minimal concerns). No complicated application equipment. Active gases not released until mixed in moist soil. Economical — reduces labor costs and plastic disposal. |
